There’s some news from upstate to share as this day comes to a close. Artforum reports that the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art at the State University of New York has been awarded a $20,000 grant for a show called “Anonymous: Tibetan Contemporary Art,” which it will present next summer. At a press conference at the Expo Chicago art fair today, art nonprofit Artadia: The Fund for Art and Dialogue, announced the seven winners of its latest Chicago grant cycle. They were selected from nearly 500 applicants from Cook County, Ill. This is the sixth time that the organization, which was founded in 1997 by banker Christopher E. Vroom, has given grants specifically to Chicago-area artists. It also presents grants in New York and Chicago, and will present a round of grants in Houston. Read More
The Brooklyn Academy of Music, which is in the midst of celebrating its 150th anniversary, just announced that it got another feather in its cap. It received a four-year grant of $1 million from the Leon Levy Foundation to create a new digital archive to launch in May 2015. Read More
The Rockefeller Foundation has awarded a total of nearly $3 million in grants to 16 New York-based organizations in its New York City Cultural Innovation Fund competition to support local art and artists. The winners, which were selected from almost 400 applicants, will each receive two-year grants of up to $250,000. Read More
