Stroll into Clifton Benevento’s booth at NADA to see the two slick new Zak Kitnick metal pieces hanging on their back wall, and chances are you will hear some music coming from around a corner.

Artadia NADA Award to Margaret Lee

NADA

Today, Artadia, the New York–based nonprofit founded by Christopher E. Vroom, announced that Margaret Lee has been named the winner of its first-ever NADA award, which goes to one artist showing work at the fair. Ms. Lee, who will receive a $4,000 unrestricted grant, has work at two booths at this year’s NADA Miami Beach, those belonging to Milwaukee’s Green Gallery and New York’s Jack Hanley Gallery. Her work at Hanley includes a phone with a cucumber for a handset. She is also the co-proprietor of the 47 Canal gallery, which is set up at the fair just a stone’s throw from those two booths. MoMA PS1 curator Peter Eleey and Kunsthalle Zürich director and curator Beatrix Ruff selected the winner. Read More

Sadie Coles HQ's booth at Art Basel Miami Beach. (The New York Observer)

There are two red apples on the ground inside Sadie Coles HQ’s Art Basel booth right now. Naturally, one might assume that these are works by New York artist Darren Bader, who is the master of such readymade works and is represented by Coles. Mr. Bader’s show at MoMA PS1 earlier this year included burritos, fresh vegetables and cats, and during Frieze in London he presented lasagna injected with heroin at Coles. Apples, in comparison, seemed rather tame. Was he taking a low-key approach to Miami Basel? Read More
