The magazine was founded in 1999 and became an excellent chronicle of the art scene in Moscow, where a number of galleries have recently closed.
According to Baibakov Art Projects’ blog, where we first saw this news, “the staff of ArtChronika went willingly, possibly even all quitting together. It also seems like this in no way affects this year’s Kandinsky Prize [funded by the ArtChronkia Foundation], nor [Publisher Shalva] Breus’ plans to convert an old ‘Udarnik’ movie theater near the Red October island into his personal museum.”
