Armory Week has come to a close. The fairs have ended, and everyone is heading back home right now. The slide show at left offers a final look back at last week, with a handful of photos of works that were on view at the ADAA Art Show, Independent and the Armory Show. It’s easy to complain about the fairs—the monotony, the money—but the fact is that there are always some wonderful surprises to be had. They offer the chance to see works that we might never otherwise get to see. The next time you get the chance, thank your dealer for shelling out thousands (or, more often, tens of thousands) of dollars to present that work, betting that someone would bite. The one thing that I sadly did not remember to photograph was the Ladurée macaron stand in Pier 92 at the Armory Show. Here’s hoping that becomes a recurring feature of the annual event.
