Houston-based artist Trenton Doyle Hancock has won the Greenfield Prize, which is awarded each year by the Greenfield Foundation in Philadelphia and the Hermitage Artist Retreat in Florida.

Mr. Hancock, who is represented in New York by James Cohan Gallery (he was the subject of a recent solo exhibition there in December), will receive $30,000.

Bruce E. Rodgers, executive director of the Hermitage Artist Retreat told the Houston Chronicle, "Trenton is starting a new phase, and that puts him in a place where we could help. It's an exciting time for him, and we can help give him the encouragement and support he will need."
