With the annual art fair week in Miami less than one month away, a new fair competitor, Untitled, just released a list of about 40 galleries that it has signed. Among the New York galleries exhibiting at Untitled, which will take place Dec. 5–9 in a tent in South Beach, are Blackston, Dodge Gallery, Jeff Bailey Gallery, Third Streaming and Johannes Vogt, and nonprofits Participant Inc. and Art in General. Other dealers come from throughout the U.S., Mexico and Europe.
The crowded fair field in Miami has led to stiff competition for galleries. Last month, Untitled and the New Art Dealers Alliance, which runs a fair at the Deauville in North Beach, reportedly clashed, after NADA asked its member galleries to withdraw from Untitled or face the possibility of not participating in future NADA fairs. (NADA also runs events in Cologne, Manhattan and Hudson, N.Y.) Among the NADA members on the final Untitled list are Vogt, the Hole, Bailey and Thierry Goldberg.
Untitled—not to be confused with the delicious Whitney Museum restaurant or the Lower East Side gallery of the same name—is run by curator Omar Lopez-Chahoud. The complete list of galleries, with the artists they plan to present, follows below.
