“Deep Space,” a massive group show with work by artists Matta, Phase 2, Futura and Rammellzee (the theme tying them together is not “stage names,” but it could be), opened last Friday at a pop-up space by Joseph Nahmad on West 14th Street.

It’s the kind of raw warehouse space with concrete columns and cinder block walls that makes it feel like you’re breaking and entering. At the opening, there was a live jazz band playing in the center of the room, and the lights were basically turned off, save for some spotlights dramatically illuminating the work. There was also a black-light room, which worked well with some of the art, but was kind of embarrassing if you were one of those people who, uh, didn’t take their winter coat to the dry cleaners yet.

The show was curated by Mr. Nahmad and Nemo Librizzi, and it runs through Dec. 12.
