While much of New York’s art world–and a lot of the whole city–has been halted in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, Phillips de Pury will go ahead with its editions evening sale tonight at its Park Avenue location. The auction will begin at 5 p.m., and Phillips’s gallery is open for viewing today. The editions day sale will take place tomorrow at 10 a.m.
“The city’s back in business,” said Benjamin Godsill, a Phillips specialist. “The stock market is back in business. The city carries on. Obviously it’s not ideal, but we keep a stiff upper lip and we move on.”
The subways are still closed, but–just a wild guess here–we imagine most people who attend auctions don’t get there using the MTA. You can also bid online if you can’t make it in.
