Art consultant Noémie Bonnet has been appointed executive director of Asia Week New York, the annual event that brings together roughly 40 auction houses, museums and Asian cultural institutions for a week-long run of exhibitions, lectures, auctions and special events.
“We are delighted that Noémie Bonnet has joined the Asia Week New York team,” said Howard-Sneyd, chairman of Asia Week New York 2013, and Sotheby’s vice-chairman of Asian art for the Americas, who made the announcement today. ”The experience and dynamism she brings to the position of executive director is certain to further enhance our visibility and broaden our reach to new collectors.”
In this role, the 27-year-old Ms. Bonnet will oversee the effort to raise the profile of Asia Week New York (next year’s event will be held from March 15 through 23) as a “premier destination on the international Asian art calendar,” according to the statement.
Ms. Bonnet formerly held gigs in program management at the Art Directors Club, and in business development at Internet Week New York. She’s also done consulting for TED, YouTube and the French Embassy in Washington, D.C.
“I look forward to building and expanding upon the superior standards Asia Week New York has thus far established,” said Ms. Bonnet in a statement. “It’s very exciting for me to be part of such a high-profile group of Asian art specialists who are ready to take Asia Week New York to a new level. To me, this is where things can get creative.”
Congrats to Ms. Bonnet.
