Back in June, The New York Observer broke the news that Chelsea and Lower East Side gallery Lehmann Maupin was on the hunt for real estate in Hong Kong.  Now they have found it.

Art-market journalist Georgina Adams reports in her Financial Times column that the gallery's partners, Rachel Lehmann and David Maupin, have found a space in the "the oh-so-sought-after Pedder Building," which is home to branches of Simon Lee and Ben Brown, both from London, and Gagosian.

Courtney Plummer is directing the Hong Kong outpost, which will be designed by Rem Koolhaas's OMA team, who also handled the design of the gallery's Chelsea location.

The new gallery will open before the inaugural Art Basel Hong Kong (formerly Art H.K.), which arrives on May 23, 2013.
