Suzanne Cotter, the curator of the Guggenheim's Abu Dhabi project, has been selected to lead the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art, in Porto, Portugal, Art in America reports. She'll be taking the place of João Fernandes, who is stepping down after almost a decade as director to become deputy director of Madrid's Museo Reina Sofía. Ms. Cotter had served in her Guggenheim role since 2010.

Ms. Cotter has a formidable international résumé, having curated the 2011 Sharjah Biennial, and held positions at Modern Art Oxford, and three of London's premier art institutions—the Whitechapel Art Gallery, the Serpentine Gallery and the Hayward Gallery. According to the Guggenheim, she has organized shows and written essays on artist including Seth Price, Cecily Brown, Trisha Donnelly and Silke Otto-Knapp, among dozens of others.

(For those seeking a reminder about the Guggenheim's Abu Dhabi project: earlier this year, Abu Dhabi said that the museum, which is designed by Frank Gehry and expected to cost $800 million, will open in 2017, after a number of delays.)

AiA reports that Ms. Cotter will start at the Serralves, a roughly 140,000-square-foot museum that opened in 1999, in January.
