Open Studios: “GO: a community-curated open studio project,” Open Studio Weekend
This weekend, “GO,” offers New Yorkers the chance to participate in an open studio event that puts all others to shame. From Red Hook to Bensonhurst, there are more than 40 neighborhoods represented. In this open studio event, studio visitors have the ability to nominate artists for inclusion in a group show that will be held at the Brooklyn Museum. Based on your nominations, curators from the Brooklyn Museum will then select up to 10 artists to participate in that show, which opens in December 2012. To participate, you do have to register (it’s free!), and to nominate artists you’ll need to visit at least five studios. But you can also just visit studios without registering, if you’re not going to vote. Either way, you’ll most certainly need a map. Here’s a link to their site and their new iPhone App. Get cracking. —R.J.
