Op artist Bridget Riley will be honored with the Sikkens Prize, the Sikkens Foundation, which is based in Sassenheim, the Netherlands, announced. The Museum of Modern Art's emeritus curator at large, John Elderfield, will present the award to Ms. Riley at a ceremony on Oct. 28 at the Gemeentemuseum in the Hague, the Netherlands. Thank you to ArtDaily for the tip.

The prize is given every two years to honor "social, cultural and scientific developments in society in which color plays a specific role." Previous honorees include Jan Dibbets (1995), Donald Judd (1993) and the hippies (in 1970 for their "exuberant use of color as a playful aspect in human society").

The prize was started in 1959 by the foundation, the philanthropic wing of the Sikkens paint company, which started as a varnish producer in Groningen, the Netherlands, in 1792.

Congratulations, Ms. Riley.
