Seward Park Co-op, the Lower East Side apartment complex that is riddled with art world residents (like MoMA PS1 director Klaus Biesenbach), has approved a 7-Eleven at 403 Grand Street, near Essex.

The news, first reported by Bowery Boogie, comes after protests from the Co-op board about a corporate chain leasing the space instead of a mom and pop local business. Apparently, the 7-Eleven was given the lease because it "offers financial stability."
