The Metropolitan Museum of Art will hold an exhibition about the history of manipulated photography before the digital age called "Faking It." The show will feature some 200 photographs produced between the 1840s and 1990s, from 19th century photographers printing two negatives on a single sheet of paper for a landscape portrait, to the faked photographs of the 1871 Paris Commune massacres, to news photo retouching.

The show runs October 11, 2012 through January 27, 2013. It was organized by Mia Fineman, assistant curator in the department of photographs.
