With blue-chip collecting and art mutual funds on the rise, Switzerland has continued to be a hub of art storage, the website Swissinfo.ch reports.
Nearly 40 art funds keep their works in the country, to say nothing of the famous Nahmad collection. There are also some interesting tidbits about the business of storing works. From the piece:
Some vaults are similar to the luxurious galleries same, albeit with a constant temperature of 17 degrees, “we freeze the inside,” said Denis Schott. The preservation of art, says Denis Schott, is demanding. The oil paintings, for example, require a light and optimum temperatures.
Expect more from this in the sector as Geneva has recently built another large art storage complex, as has Singapore for the Asian market.
