Starting July 8, the Museum of Modern Art’s concert series, Summergarden: New Music for New York, will return to the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden. Summergarden, a collaboration between MoMA and its programming partners, the Julliard School and Jazz at Lincoln Center, is free and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. MoMA, if you don’t already know, has a long tradition of excellent jazz concerts in its sculpture garden. Sonny Rollins, for instance, recorded one of the great (and totally strange) live jazz albums there, 1985′s The Solo Album. A full schedule of events is below.
