Paris's Galerie Michel Rein just announced that it now represents LaToya Ruby Frazier, the New York- and New Brunwick, N.J.-based photographer who has been a star of the 2009 New Museum Triennial, the MoMA PS1's 2010 Greater New York and the 2012 Whitney Biennial, where she presented photographs shot in her hometown of Braddock, Pa. The gallery plans to show her work in the Art Positions section of Art Basel Miami Beach in 2012.

Here's the gallery:

Her work is informed by late 19th- and early 20th-century modes of representation in documentary practice. With an emphasis on postmodern conditions, class, and capitalism, Frazier investigates issues of propaganda, politics, and the importance of subjectivity.

Ms. Frazier, who has a show coming up at the Brooklyn Museum in March 2013, has a pretty remarkable practice, channeling classics like August Sander to Seydou Keïta into something wholly original and bravely engaged with contemporary politics.

Galerie Michel Rein's other artists include Allan Sekula, Jimmie Durham and Saâdane Afif.
