Joan Miró Scores New Auction High With $36.9 M. Lot in London

Sotheby's London just wrapped up its evening Impressionist and Modern sale, and the star lot appears to be a Joan Miró painting from 1927, Blue Star, which sold for $36.9 million over a high estimate of $32 million.

The Spanish artist's previous auction record, $26.8 million, was obtained at Christie's "Art of The Surreal" evening sale in London this spring, according to Artnet.
