The notoriously acerbic critic Charlie Finch has just filed his last-ever column for Artnet magazine. The two-paragraph send-off is available here in all its glory.
Here’s Mr. Finch on his former boss:
I’ve worked with Walter Robinson for 15 years. Everything you read about him is true, he’s a gentleman, the art world loves him, he’s a brilliant painter, he’s the best editor of his generation, and he will land on his feet.
In a phone interview just conducted with The Observer, Mr. Finch said this column marks his “retirement from the art world.” Something tells us the art world isn’t that lucky, though.
