NYC & Company, New York's official tourism organization, has named MoMA PS1 the city's "culture spot" for May 2012. To celebrate, the museum will offer 2-for-1 admission throughout the month of May. (Being the cheap misers that we are, some of us 'round these parts are known to take heed of the "suggest donation" clause in the museum's admission fee, but for those of you who are, uh, good people, and actually pay $10 for a ticket, this 2-for-1 deal sounds pretty sweet.)

“MoMA PS1 is a world-renowned laboratory for contemporary practice—visual art, performance, film, architecture, music and dance,” said Klaus Biesenbach, director of MoMA PS1, in a statement. “We are only minutes away from Manhattan on the subway, and yet you are literally in another world when you come here—another space, another time.”

If you'll allow us to slightly tweak that final phrase, let's all have a listen to Jerry Lee Lewis's classic hit single, "Another Place, Another Time." We'd also like to take this opportunity to recommend Mr. Lewis as a performer at MoMA PS1's courtyard performance dome.
