The South Dakota Supreme Court has ruled in favor of Kevin Costner in lawsuit that had a local sculptor Peggy Detmers suing the Dances With Wolves actor over a series of sculptures he commissioned from her for $250,000.
The sculptures were to have been placed on the grounds of a luxury resort that Mr. Costner planned to build near Deadwood, but, to Ms. Detmers’s chagrin, he decided to build a “cultural center” instead. She was to receive a portion of all sales from the luxury resort’s gift shop reproductions of her work.
