The Hayward Gallery in London is holding a show of backhanded conceptual art that's probably only rivaled by Robert Barry's Closed Gallery ("During the exhibition the gallery will be closed"). On June 12, it will open an exhibition of invisible art.

There's quite a plethora of invisible art on view at Hayward's exhibition, called "Invisible: Art about the Unseen 1957 - 2012." Works include Tom Friedman's 1000 Hours of Staring (a piece of paper that the artist has stared at periodically over the last five years), Warhol's Invisible Sculpture (a pedestal he once stepped on) and Mr. Barry's Energy Field, which--as basically the antithesis of Closed Gallery--is supposed to heighten a visitor's physical awareness of the gallery space.

It's worth mentioning that the Pompidou held a very similar exhibition of empty galleries in 2009.

Admission costs £8 (about $12.50). We'd go, but we'll be hanging out with our imaginary friend for the duration of the exhibition.
