Tauba Auerbach's Very Beautiful Exhibition Announcement

  • Flowers at the Frieze booth of Alexander Gray Associates.
    Start The Slideshow

In two hours and 10 minutes, the inaugural Frieze New York will close its door on Randall’s Island. Its massive tent—said to be the largest ever erected in North America—will be removed, and Randall’s Island will return to its regular operations as a site of track meets and concerts. It has been quite a ride, with a good chunk of the international art world’s denizens in town, competing for dollars and attention. In the slide show at left, a bit of that magic, from NADA and Frieze New York to more fleeting events, from the Calder Foundation’s one-night stand at an abandoned hotel in Chelsea to a surprise performance by death metal band Liturgy at Essex Street gallery.
