The New York Times's Carol Vogel reports that Thomas Seydoux, Christie's chairman of Impressionist and modern art, has resigned his post, and will become a private dealer. There's money to be made in that game, it seems.

Ms. Vogel notes that not a few auction-house standbys have left the business to go solo in recent years. Among them are Guy Bennett, Christopher Eykyn and Nicholas Maclean. The last two, just last night, opened an exhibition of prized Cy Twomblys from the collection of the late art dealer Ileana Sonnabend at their Upper East Side gallery.
