An Andy Coolquit exhibition at the old Lisa Cooley space.

Lisa Cooley, as we mentioned to you back in January, will be moving from her space on Orchard Street to a larger, 4,800 square foot space on Norfolk. The inaugural show, we’ve learned from an email blast this morning, now has an opening date of March 16.

The first exhibition will only be up until March 25 and will include all 11 artists on the gallery’s roster: Michael Bauer, Alice Channer, Andy Coolquitt, Cynthia Daignault, Josh Faught, Frank Haines, Alex Olson, Jon Pestoni, Alan Reid, Erin Shirreff, J. Parker Valentine.

The show is called “Today,” named after the Frank O’Hara poem, which Ms. Cooley graciously included in her e-mail. We will reprint it here, because it is lovely and has excellent use of exclamation points and makes this dull, gray Friday feel a little brighter:

Oh! Kangaroos, sequins, chocolate sodas!

You really are beautiful! Pearls,

harmonicas, jujubes, asprins! all

the stuff they’ve always talked about

still makes a poem a surprise!

These things are with us every day

even on beachheads and biers. They

do have meaning. They’re strong as rocks.
