Still from the final scene of The Italian Job.

Eddie Izzard is paying the artist Richard Wilson 70,000 pounds ($111,000) to recreate the final scene of The Italian Job, a film that the comedian is, apparently, a “huge fan” of. Recall that the last scene of the movie involves a bus skidding off the road and balancing on the top of a mountain in the Italian Alps. Mr. Izzard’s project will hoist a car up using a crane and balance it onto the roof of De La Warr Pavilion in East Sussex.

The car will be painted the colors of the British Olympic team, to celebrate the 2012 Olympic games in London.

Mr. Izzard told The Telegraph:

“I think this is a perfect time to hang a large bus off the edge of a building in a seaside town. By the end of 2012 I hope the word goes out from our country that not only do we run excellent world events, but also balance coaches on the edges of buildings like no one else ever could.”
