<p>The Los Angeles art world is getting ready for the Oscars and putting the finishing touches on shows that will open over the next few days: Urs Fischer at Gagosian, for one! (<em>Gallerist </em>will have coverage of events in the city later this week.) But L.A. is also humming because the College Art Association is holding its 100th annual conference through Saturday, and thousands of art historians are in town to mingle, interview for jobs and present papers at panels with really wonderful names.
