Independent curator Regine Basha has been named the director of the San Antonio-based Artpace contemporary arts organization, Art in America reports.
The magazine notes that in the past, the organization has attracted the likes of Maurizio Cattelan, Wangechi Mutu, Christian Jankowski and Cornelia Parker. Ms. Basha has served as the Canadian Consulate’s cultural affairs officer in New York.
“Artpace’s mission to inspire through the creation and advancement of contemporary art and belief that art is an important social force is a model for major art institutions throughout the world,” Ms. Basha said in a release. “I look forward to working with such a dynamic organization as it evolves and continues to challenge the role of contemporary art while fostering creative careers and giving access to the public.”
