Argentinian conceptual maestro David Lamelas–whose spotlight-in-a-dark-room piece you may have seen in Peter Eleey’s “Talent Show” exhibition at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis and MoMA P.S.1–”will exhibit a site-specific installation based on his drawings made during the 1960s,” when he was in his twenties. In a curious mirroring of the Huck Finn show at Paul Kasmin, the street artist Imminent Disaster, a.k.a. Robyn Hasty, displays her new work—an exploration of the effects of the recession though cut-paper, salvaged wood, screenprinted works and wet-plate photographs from a two-year trip around the recession-plagued country. — Dan Duray

Artist, actor and writer Taylor Mead–who is perhaps best known as the subjects of the Warhol film Taylor Mead’s Ass (1964), which the gallery will screen on Saturday–will present work from the 1980s, including a series of paintings that “have survived cockroach infestation, subsequent fumigation, and a collapsed ceiling.” He will also read poetry at the opening. — A.R.

The 10 artists in this Kristen Chappa-curated show include multitasker A.K. Burns (of Community Action Center fame) and Tom Thayer, who is working with artist Ethan Ham and musician Keith Connolly (of No-Neck Blues Band fame) on a collaborative piece that has a tantalizing title: The Spaniard and the Hudson Eel.
