New York video artist Alex Bag is now represented by SoHo's Team Gallery. José Friere, the founder and director of the gallery, confirmed the move to Gallerist today and said that the gallery will host its first solo exhibition with Ms. Bag in March of next year, at its Grand Street location. (The gallery opened a second space on Wooster Street earlier this year, and Mr. Friere has said he plans to add artists to Team's roster.)

Ms. Bag had previously been working with Chelsea gallery Elizabeth Dee, where she had two one-person exhibitions, in 2009 and 2004. She has also shown with Almine Rech in Paris and American Fine Arts, the gallery run by the late dealer Colin de Land.

A longtime New Yorker (she was born here in 1969), Ms. Bag had her first one-person shows at 303 Gallery in the mid-1990s, showcasing video work that lampooned art world conventions and contemporary consumer society with inventive, manic and sometimes acerbic wit.

Reviewing Ms. Bag’s second show at 303, in 1995, New York Times art critic Roberta Smith wrote, "[T]he overall impression is of an artist who has an ambidextrous affinity for the camera, who can marshal dolls and puppets into feminist Mr. Bill-like skits and slip effortlessly in and out of different outfits, roles and accents."

The March show at Team will focus on work created from clips that Mr. Bag and artist Patterson Beckwith showed on New York City public access television from 1994 to 1997.

Ms. Bag has had solo shows at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. This year the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst in Zurich presented a retrospective of her work.

The artist's departure from Dee comes just weeks after news broke that Ryan Trecartin had decided to leave the gallery to work independently.
